Tennessee Republican Representative Tim Burchett told his former colleague Matt Gaetz that he believes aliens are hiding under the sea.
Newsweek has reached out to a representative for Burchett via email for comment.
Burchett has been a prominent advocate for transparency regarding unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), commonly known as unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
He has consistently expressed his belief that the U.S. government is concealing information about extraterrestrial encounters.
Burchett claims to have seen "top secret" information about extraterrestrial crafts and has been among the most vocal members of Congress on the topic of UFOs, UAPs and the disclosure of government information surrounding them.
