Australia’s first female astronaut says there are aliens out there but there's big obstacle in finding them.

Katherine Bennell-Pegg was speaking at Sydney’s recent South by Southwest conference, where she took on cosmic queries from the audience. And it was only ever going to be a matter of time before the 39-year-old mum was confronted by the inevitable celestial conundrum. Once asked whether there was life on other planets, Katherine was quick to say that we definitely weren't alone in the universe.

Adding that the inevitably of extraterrestrial essentially boils down to the sheer number of stars that fill the night sky.
