Brain MRI scans provide invaluable insights into our bodies. However, the sheer volume of data generated presents a major obstacle for long-term storage.

Researchers at China’s Tianjin University have developed an out-of-the-box solution: storing brain MRI data in DNA.

In recent years, DNA is being considered as a means of preserving digital information for generations to come.

The team says that DNA — known for its stability and density — could be an ideal candidate for MRI data storage
