Researchers at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have built a device that allows them to freeze chemical reactions and visualize them at an atomic level. Dubbed the Polymer Liquid Cell (PLC), the device has been used to study the properties of a copper catalyst that could turn carbon dioxide into fuels, a press release said.
Electrochemical reactions are the basis of modern-day technologies that promise a clean, green future. From solar-powered fuel generation to fuel cells, the flow of ions in a battery to electrolysis that can provide clean hydrogen all work on chemical reactions.
