In October this year, a team of 19 scientists mostly from Delft University announced the most important experimental result in the history of physics.
That sounds like a rather rash statement to make - it isn't. The experiment went largely unreported in mass media.
It proved the existence of one of the defining phenomena associated with the discipline of science, quantum mechanics, that underpins all science and brings to a conclusion a controversy that has been simmering for well over 80 years.
