This is an account of the contributions of a group of Soviet experts—three physicists and a historian—to ending the Cold War. They had the ear of Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev; but they realized that any Soviet initiatives would have to work in Washington as well. So they reached out to partner with nongovernmental organizations in the US that shared their goals. That’s how I came to be involved.
