Surprising new information has surfaced regarding the unidentified flying object (UFO) in China that caused airplanes to temporarily be diverted away from a major airport on Wednesday, August 17, 2011. The UFO was spotted by multiple witnesses above a runway at Jiangbei International Airport resulting in the temporary halt of operations at that airport and major news media attention.
A government official in China reportedly told a reporter that there was never a UFO at all. He claimed that the temporary diversion of more than 10 airplanes to other airports was merely "an airspace control exercise." There is no word on how a simple exercise could have caused workers and passengers to see an unidentified flying object in the sky.
