Consider Steven Spielberg’s E.T., Night Skies, Gremlins, and just about every other alien invasion and horror movie. Every once in a while, one has to ask: How did they come up with that?
For Steven Spielberg, the three aforementioned movies were inspired by one incident that took place on August 21, 1955, in rural Kentucky. It involved silver-clad beings whose mere movements defied what was thought to be humanly possible.
The incident brings to mind just about nearly every slasher and alien invasion movie made. A modern film that comes to mind is M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs. It brings forth those fears of invasion. Strange beings attempt to find a way into your home, while you are essentially trapped and helpless inside, fighting for your life.
